(12 December 2005)
Dr Tim Short, School of Engineering, is among the first six lecturers to be awarded prizes for excellence in teaching by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The awards were set up to recognise lecturers who have chosen to remain in higher education during the early years of their career. Tim has received a £10,000 prize. He has worked with the Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management in Rwanda to help design a prototype solar powered water pump. The pump is being tried out in Rwanda, Jordan and Nepal.
