Fashion show fun raises cash for charity

(17 November 2005)

The annual Durham University Charity Fashion Show has raised over £8,000 for the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund.

With a record level of sponsorship and excellent of ticket sales the show was expected to raise quite a sum. Included in the total sum donated was income from a raffle and auction, in which an Alice Temperley dress was sold for £720. This year’s beneficiary, the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund, was set up following the tragic death of the England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake by his brother and fellow cricketer Adam Hollioake. The aim of the charity is to create a centre in South London to support life-limited children and their families and subsequently enable them to have a better quality of life. All Durham colleges were represented in the 44 models (22 girls and 22 boys) who entertained the audience as well as expertly choreographed dancers who performed in the interludes, contributing significantly to the night’s success.
