Dr Clive Preece: Engineer and Dean of Science

The University announces with deep regret the death of Dr Clive Preece on 10 September 2006.

Dr Preece joined the University in 1966 as a Lecturer in Engineering and was promoted to a Senior Lectureship in 1976. He was involved with Durham University’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 1982, in which he co-ordinated an exhibition part of which can still be seen on the first floor of the Palace Green Library. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Science from 1991-1994. Dr Preece retired in 1999 and was appointed as an Honorary Fellow in the School of Engineering until 2002. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday 20 September 2006 at 2.30 pm at the Northgate United Reformed Church, North Road, Darlington. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu of flowers will be split between St Leonard’s Hospice and the Low Row Organ Appeal.
