Congratulations to apprentice gardener

Seventeen year old Durham University apprentice gardener, Mark Waby, has been selected from 45 students to receive the NVQ Horticulture Student of the Year Award.

This will be presented by weatherman, Ian McCaskill at a ceremony at East Durham & Houghall Community College on Thursday 6 July. Mark has worked in the Grounds Section of Estates & Buildings for the past year and is working towards NVQ level 2 in Amenity Horticulture. His work involves grass cutting, machine maintenance, lawn edging, bedding plants, hedge cutting and pruning.
