Honorary Fellowship for prominent Alabama businessman

Durham Business School are delighted to announce that Durham University's Vice Chancellor and Warden Professor Sir Kenneth Calman has awarded an Honorary Fellowship with DBS to prominent Alabama businessman and art collector Mr Jack Warner.

The Honorary Fellowship was received by Mr Warner at a private dinner at Durham Castle during his recent visit to the region. Mr Warner was accompanied by Professor Jim Cashman from Alabama University. Their five-day trip was rounded off by a farewell gathering for staff and students at the Business School where they were presented with a small memento of their trip. Following the presentation Mr Warner delivered an interesting short talk about his specialist American art collection. An inspirational individual, Mr Warner previously served 40 years as chief executive officer of Gulf States Paper Co. and is founder and curator of the Westervelt-Warner Museum of American Art in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. Tony Antoniou, Dean of Durham Business School comments: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Warner to Durham and to honour his many achievements. Our relationship with both Alabama and the University of Alabama continues to deepen and we look forward to future collaborations.”
