Picture of health

Project director of CAHHM (Centre for arts and Humanities in Health and Medicine) has been quoted in the medical media at the prospect of a possible NHS review into the use of art to improve health.

Mike White and CAHHM aim to build an evidence base for the effective use of art in healthcare. However he worries that the NHS review’s focus will be too narrow, ignoring the huge and developing area of community-based work.

The centre is trying to measure the benefits art can have on health, however the difficulty in assessing this is one of the reasons it has taken so long for arts in health to become mainstream.
