Charity fashion show aims to raise cash for life limited children

(17 October 2005)

The annual Durham University Charity Fashion Show is setting its sights high with the aim of raising more than £10,000 for the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund supporting life limited children and their families.

The Deloitte-sponsored Fashion Show, which has become a highly regarded date in the University and local calendar, is taking place at the Gala Theatre in Durham on 28 and 29 October.

Showcasing clothes from the likes of Fenwick, Jigsaw, Beau Bras, TM Lewin and Royal Vintage, forty five of Durham’s finest looking students will model these beautiful and sophisticated lines. Dancing will also feature in this fantastic evening of entertainment.

The CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund, this year’s beneficiary, was set up following the tragic death of England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake by his brother and fellow cricketer Adam Hollioake. The aim of the charity is to create a centre in South London to support life-limited children and their families and subsequently enable them to have a better quality of life.

Ella Barden, Chairperson of the organising committee said: “We feel this is a very deserving cause and particularly relevant to us as students as many of these children will not reach university age. We hope that the shows will not only provide fantastic entertainment for the guests but more importantly will raise a significant amount of money to help the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund set up their much-needed centre.”

The show on 29 October, also known as the Gala Night, is host to a large charity auction and other fundraising features as well as champagne reception and goodie bags for VIP ticket holders and is being generously sponsored by Allen and Overy.

Tickets are available from £8-£23 from the Gala Theatre Box Office on 0191 332 4041.
