(6 October 2005)

Legal history has been made this week when a husband and wife duo were sworn in together as High Court Judges.

Durham University graduate Caroline Swift QC and her husband Peter Openshaw will serve together in the Queens Bench Division.

It is believed to be the first time and husband and wife have been sworn in at the same time – although there are other married couples within the judiciary.
