CAEIMT at St John’s College for the first time

(12 July 2005)

St John’s College is playing host to the annual conference of theological educators this week. (Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th July) It is the first time the conference has met outside the University of Nottingham.

Approximately 100 teachers of Theology and Ministry are attending the Conference of Anglican and Ecumenical Institutes of Ministerial Training (CAEIMT) and all the delegates are involved in training future Anglican and Methodist clergy in colleges and on non-residential courses around England.

The attendance is higher than in any previous year. Key note speakers include two bishops responsible for training future Anglican clergy: Rt. Rev. John Packer, bishop of Ripon and Leeds, and Rt. Rev. Alister Redfern, bishop of Derby.

The conference includes workshops and consultations for teachers of individual theological disciplines as well as meetings for staff in colleges and on courses.

The event has been organised by Elizabeth Harper, a lecturer in Old Testament Studies on the West of England training course and also a Durham PhD student, together with other members of the CAEIMT Executive, including Charles Read, lecturer in Liturgy at St John’s College.
