Students - Could you develop a new business idea?

(31 January 2005)

Could you compete against other universities in the region with your idea? Could you impress the Venture Capitalists?

'The Yomp' is a Business Game designed to help develop strategies for starting up new businesses. This is a highly focused decision making activity intended to stimulate teamwork and creative thinking and generate the development of a new business idea or strategy and growing it from a concept into a profitable business. This event will convert the YOMP board game into a physical challenge. In developing your project you will have the opportunity to consult with business specialists from a variety of backgrounds. Teams of Durham students will compete directly with teams of students from each of the other four regional universities (Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumbria and Teesside) during the day, and the event will finish with the chance to impress Venture Capitalists and business professionals down at Dickinson Dees on the Newcastle Quayside. Prizes will be presented at a drinks reception.

Where: The Beehive, Newcastle University
When: Wednesday 23 February (all day event)
