Mark promotes best practice in training and development

(24 January 2005)

Durham University’s Training and Development Manager Mark Crabtree is recognised by fellow professionals as one of the country’s leading authorities in his field.

Mark, who heads the Human Resources Training and Development team based at the Science Site in Durham City, is one of the longest serving judges with North East regional panel of the National Training Awards.

Scott Warr, Assistant Director Human Resource Projects, says that Mark is highly regarded both regionally and nationally for his knowledge and expertise and has been a driving force for the promotion of best practice in training and development.

Mark has been a regional judge for six years and spends many hours outside of work assessing and validating nominations for awards submitted from businesses and organisations in both the private and public sectors.

He joined the University just over two years ago after working in similar roles in the motor industry and local government.

“The University of Durham recognises the contribution employees make to its success. It also recognises that to maintain a committed and competent workforce, it needs to ensure that there is adequate training and development provided for all employees. Mark Crabtree is the person who leads the delivery of this policy,” said Scott Warr.
