Student in fatal accident

(18 August 2004)

The University has learned with sadness of the death of Christopher Vikram Singh, a student at St Chad’s College in an accident involving a train in London at the beginning of this week. He had just completed his first year, studying for joint honours in Classical Studies and English Literature.

Senior Tutor, the Rev Michael Hampel, described Vikram as an excellent young man who showed great respect and enthusiasm for the community. He had considerable talent, particularly in the field of communication and performance, and contributed much to theatre and other arts media at school and university.

A private funeral service will take place in London late next week. It will be immediately followed by a public thanksgiving service at Emmanuel Church, Ridgeway, Wimbledon, SW19.

All members of staff of St Chad’s College express their deep sadness and sympathy to Vikram’s family and friends, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University is sending a personal letter of condolence to his family.
