Clearing hotlines go live

Admissions staff at the University of Durham are all geared up for the rush of applications and enquiries expected following the publication of A-Level results this Thursday (19th August).

Hundreds of students are expected to contact the University once they have received their results for further advice. The continuing popularity of the University of Durham means that pressure for places remains high and that the number of vacancies is very small.

Matthew Andrews, Head of Undergraduate Admissions said: "We have a small number of vacancies which are based at the University's Queen's Campus in Stockton. Applicants are encouraged to call early to avoid disappointment and to discuss their options with trained staff who will guide them through the admissions process."

Special clearing hotlines have been established and will be open from 8am on Thursday 19 August. The numbers are:

Students interested in any of the courses still available at the University of Durham are invited to:

- call the Admissions Office at the Queen's Campus on 0191 334 0048 which is open throughout the year from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

- on Thursday 19th & Friday 20th August the clearing hotlines will be open from 8am and on the weekend of 21st/22nd August the lines will also be open from 10am.

For mature students who lack formal qualifications, there are still some places available on the University's Foundation Programme. The 1-year course provides an alternative entry route onto some degrees courses for those with non-traditional qualifications.
