Summer School Success

(2 June 2004)

A report published by Ofsted concluded that the summer schools as part of the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth were regarded as highly successful by the young people who attended.

Durham was one of five centres holding summer schools last year. Ofsted found that the quality of learning was very good, with pupils making substantial gains in knowledge and understanding and gaining confidence and self-esteem. This year's summer school at Durham is scheduled to take place from 8 - 21 August with a doubling of subject strands on offer.
