John Snow opens 'Igloos'

(2 June 2004)

On Monday 31st May John Snow College formally launched the next phase of its development at Queen's Campus.

The College 'Igloos' were officially opened by the Chair of Snow College Governers, Caroline Thornton-Berry.

The Igloos are portable buildings that have been erected at the Halls of Residence and will provide communal space for Students, Staff and Senior Common Room members. Inside there is a social area for the students to meet in and office space for the Principal, College Tutors and JCR Officers.

Snow College students were asked to come up with ideas for names for the portable buildings which were then put forward to a judging committee. Students Jane Rhian, David Clough and Rachael Keelin all came up with winning name, 'The Igloos'.
