DUCK helping Save the Children

(20 April 2004)

A charity collection by Durham University Charities Kommittee (DUCK) in the Gateshead Metro Centre raised £627.31 for Save the Children.

Five Durham University students collected inside the centre all day to raise the funds. Rebecca Lambert, Jennifer Richardson, Vivienne Perry, Nat Doherty, and Jessica Forester are part of a larger group of twenty five collectors who are aiming to raise a massive £25,000 for Save the Children with a series of street collections and other events throughout the country.

This fundraising initiative is part of a bigger annual project organised by DUCK including an expedition to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, which at 19,336ft is the highest free standing mountain in the world. Located in Tanzania, the glacier crowned mountain represents a serious challenge to even the most experienced climbers. Last year’s successful expedition raised over £12,000.

DUCK annually donates thousands of pounds to local, national and international groups and charities.
