John Christopher Dewdney, MA

The University announces with deep regret the death of Emeritus Professor John Dewdney on 31 March 2004.

Professor Dewdney joined the University in 1952 as a Demonstrator in the Department of Geography and was appointed as a Lecturer in Geography the following year.

He was promoted to a Senior Lectureship in 1968, a Readership in 1971 and to a Chair in 1986. He held this post until his retirement in 1991.

It is believed that the funeral will be private.
