St Aidan's mourns two students

(5 January 2004)

Staff and students at St Aidan's college have been shocked and saddened by the sudden death of two first-year students.

As the new term begins at St Aidan's College, staff and students will be mourning the death of two first-year residents. Miranda Booth (20) was found dead in her room on the last day of term before Christmas. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances. Alex Hill (19) died in a road accident near his Norfolk home on 30 December.

Miranda, a Geological Sciences MSci student from Twickenham, was a member of the Christian Union. Alex, a Natural Sciences undergraduate, was a leading member of the University hockey club and had played at Under-17 and Under-19 level for the East of England.

The Vice-Chancellor has sent a message of sympathy on behalf of the University to both families.

There is a service of thanksgiving for Alex Hill at Norwich Cathedral on Friday 30th January at 2pm to remember and celebrate all that Alex achieved in his short life.
