Chemist receives Award
(18 December 2003)
Professor David Parker FRS, Chairman of the Chemistry Department, is one of eight academics in the UK this year to receive a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award worth £100,000 over a five-year period.
The scheme was created two years ago to help attract and retain the best scientific talent in the UK.
In 2001 Professor Brian Huntley (Biological and Biomedical Sciences) was one of the first recipients of a scheme funded by the DTI and the Wolfson Foundation.
In recognition of his published research on complexation phenomena in solution, Professor Parker delivered a Royal Society of Chemistry Tilden Lecture at a scientific meeting in Strasbourg on Friday 5 December 2003.
