New face in PR at the University of Durham

Dionne Hamil is the newest member of the Public Relations team at the University of Durham, taking up the post of Media and Publications Officer.

In this role she will be helping to develop media coverage in selected areas, according to the University Strategy. She will also supervise the production of publications such as prospectuses and recruitment brochures. Other aspects of the post include public relations for special events and contribution to the University's internal communications and its award-winning magazine Durham First.

Before joining the University Dionne was Events Co-ordinator at Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and had worked there since 2001. Previously to that she worked for Newcastle Airport as Public Relations Officer and has also held previous posts at the University of Durham including a work placement in the Corporate Communications office as part of her European Studies degree.

Dionne commented, "I am really pleased to be back working at the University. There are some very exciting plans and initiatives in the pipeline and I'm looking forward to being part of it".

Originally from The Netherlands Dionne attended the University of The Hague where she specialised in Communication Management. Dionne is a keen footballer and plays for Durham City Ladies Football Club which competes in the Northern League First Division.
