Student wins plant science prize

Tom Butts (2nd yr, Cell Biology, Trevelyan College) has been awarded a prestigious Sainsbury Undergraduate Studentship in Plant Science.

This nationally competitive prize provides Tom with £3,500 to fund summer placement work and to support his final year of study.

This is the third Durham biology student to win such an award in the four years that the programme has been running The scheme is managed by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation which appoints mentors to identify outstanding undergraduates with long term interests and career opportunitites in the plant sciences.
