(30 April 2013)
Durham University has further cemented its place as one of the UK’s leading universities, according to a new league table.
The Complete University Guide 2014, which ranks 124 British universities, named Durham as the country’s fifth best university for the third year running.
Durham was also the highest placed university in the North and 93 per cent of its subjects were ranked in the top ten in their field.
English and Iberian Languages were ranked first in their field.
The consolidation of Durham’s performance in the Complete University Guide follows on from its best ever performance in the prestigious Sunday Times University Guide, which ranked Durham as the UK’s fourth best university.
Durham is also ranked among the world’s top 100 universities and is in the top 20 globally for employer reputation when it comes to the quality of, and demand for, its graduates.
Professor Chris Higgins, Vice-Chancellor of Durham University, said: “Durham University is pleased to have maintained such a consistently high position in the Complete University Guide, confirming that we are among the top universities in the country.
“Our students benefit from having excellent research and teaching delivered by world-leading academics, combined with our unique collegiate system and access to superb extra-curricular activities and opportunities such as sport, the arts and community outreach.
