Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development

(21 December 2011)

Durham University was delighted to collect an award at the 7th annual Times Higher Education Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development.

The award, sponsored by the Leadership Foundation for HE, was in recognition of Durham's ground-breaking leadership development programme, the Strategy Academy.

Ewart Wooldridge, founding Chief Executive of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, said: "The [Strategy] Academy had succeeded by cutting across the institution, integrating real-time projects and balancing the needs of the university and its people. It is also clearly a part of an ongoing, long-term process of leadership development which involves a variety of different techniques and approaches."

Durham University was also honoured to be short-listed for two further awards: Professor Liz Burd for Most Innovative Teacher of the Year; and Max Robinson, Ben Cadwell and Bryan Tanner for Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology for Durham University spin-out, Kromek.
