400 Alumni turn Royal Courts of Justice Purple
(21 December 2011)
The inaugural Palatinate Christmas Ball took place at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Friday 16th December, with 400 gathered together to celebrate in festive spirit.
The stunning venue was floodlit purple in special honour of our University colour. Alumni and friends enjoyed each other's company and took the opportunity to say farewell to current Chancellor Dr Bill Bryson, who gave a heartfelt speech.
Sir Arnold Wolfendale FRS, former Astronomer Royal, presided over the event as master of ceremonies. The evening included a retrospective of the year's considerable achievements by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris Higgins, after which alumni and guests generously supported the Chancellor's 'alumni emergency fund' dedicated to helping our most vulnerable students.
