Chair of University Council and many Durham Alumni receive New Year Honours

Chris Moyes, the Chair of the Council, is the second University associate named to receive a New Year Honour.

Chris, who is also the Chief Executive of The Go-Ahead Group plc and chairman of Go-Skills training body, has received his award for services to passenger transport. Other Durham associates honoured include: Roger Singleton, CBE who has been given a Knighthood, and receives his award for services to children. Professor Graham Michael Teasdale, who also receives a Knighthood, was given his award for services to neurosurgery and victims of head injuries, along with; Professor Nicholas Alcwyn (sic) Wright who receives his Knighthood honour for services to medicine. Marion Elizabeth McClintock receives a MBE for services to higher education along with; Jacqueline Constance Ramsden, who has also been awarded a MBE for services to young people in Lancashire. Andrew Strauss has also received an MBE for services to cricket in The Ashes 2005.
