Durham University joins the Russell Group

Durham University is delighted to confirm that it has accepted an invitation to join the Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities.
Durham has a longstanding and powerful commitment to research and research-led teaching, as do the other Russell Group Universities.
Durham University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris Higgins, said:

Durham University is consistently recognised as one of the leading universities in the UK, a world-top-100 University, and 26th in the world for citations of our research - a measure of our global impact. Our interests naturally align with those of Russell Group universities.
