The Ives Ensemble — Europe's leading ensemble for unconducted contemporary chamber music — returns to Durham, performing music of some of their central composers. The programme features lyrical melodies by John Cage, Laurence Crane and Morton Feldman, rhythmical excitement from Christopher Fox and Matthew Shlomowitz, and otherworldly sounds from Frenchman Gérard Pesson. The Ives Ensemble will be resident in the north east during the week working with up-and-coming composers in the region and performing their music. There will be also be a lunchtime concert on Wednesday 15th February at 1pm in the Music School, Palace Green.
