Mr Thomas Wakelam, BA Music (Hons) Durham
Tom is primarily an ethnomusicologist who graduated from Durham University in 2010, focusing on folk percussion and cultural identity in South Korea. He has also engaged in some composition, and has had an installation piece performed in the Sage, Gateshead.
Now under the supervision of Dr Simon Mills and Professor Peter Manning, he is looking at the concept of cultural representation - primarily through instrumentation, in video games and other mainstream media. He is hoping to eventually move to PhD in this line of study, and is eager to hear from others undergoing similar lines of research.
