Biography

Stella has a BSc (with distinction) in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and an MSc in Music Technology from the University of York in the UK.

She has worked in the past as a telecommunication engineer in the private sector (Siemens) and as a teaching assistant in the department of Music Technology and Acoustics of the TEI Crete in Greece.

At the moment she is working towards a PhD in an interdisciplinary subject of Human-Computer-Interaction, that involves the capturing and analysis of body movements and sound in classical indian singing, in order to inform new digital musical instruments. The title of her PhD thesis is 'Gesticulation as an expressive mechanism for singing practice and training: analysis and real-time applications'.
