Miss Joanna Heath, BA (Hons) Dunelm, DipABRSM
Biography
Joanna is currently undertaking a Research MA in Ethnomusicology. She is spending the first six months in Mizoram, India, as a college music teacher where she will have the opportunity to conduct research into Christian worship music amongst the Mizo people. Her interest in indigenous Christian worship music stems from her undergraduate studies at Durham, in which her dissertation was based on her experiences with the Manobo people of the southern Philippines in the summer of 2010.
In 2009 she received the Michael James Scholarship and the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for academic excellence. Beyond her studies, Joanna is an enthusiastic bassoonist and played a leading role in Durham's orchestral life throughout her undergraduate degree. She is also very involved locally as a member of Durham City Baptist Church as well as the Ecumenical Christian Council.
