Modern Spanish Literature

About this module
This module is open to students who are taking Spanish Language 4 and is designed to develop understanding of contemporary Spanish culture and skills of critical analysis. Selected literary texts produced in Spain since the 1960s are studied in relation to cultural, historical and theoretical contexts, and issues of war, collective memory, social change, gender, sexuality and language.
Teaching and Learning
There are two weekly lectures and a weekly small-group seminar. Classes are in English and Spanish. Assessment is in English.
Summative Assessment
- 2000-word summative essay (40%)
- two-hour written examination (60%).
