School of Modern Languages & Cultures

Research Groups

Within the School of Modern Languages and Cultures there are currently four Research Groups: Literature, History, Theory; Culture and Difference; Visual and Performance; and Translation & Linguistics. All research active members of staff belong to at least one of these groups, each of which meets several times a year. The aim of the groups is to promote and foster intellectual interaction and dialogue, exploring avenues of interest to the members of the group through presentations and discussion. In this way it is hoped that knowledge and ideas can be shared to the benefit of individual and collaborative reearch projects. Postgraduate research students are expected regularly to attend at least one of the research groups, and all postgraduates are most welcome to attend any session run by the groups.
