Biography
I studied Classics, English and Romance Languages at Cologne, Princeton and Newcastle and have taught Classics and German at several institutions, including Newcastle and Durham Universities. My special interests are Homer and his reception and Hildegard of Bingen. At present I am working on a translation of Wolfgang Schadewaldt's Iliasstudien and translating Hildegard's Liber Divinorum Operum.

Research Interests
- I have recently researched Hildegard of Bingen, concentrating on Scivias and the Ordo Virtutum and am now working on a translation of her Liber Divinorum Operum. I am also preparing a conference paper on Hildegard's Gospel commentaries.
Teaching Areas
In addition to teaching Open Modules in the German section of the Centre for Foreign Language Study, I also teach seminars on the MA course in Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
