Prof. Paola Ceccarelli
(email at paola.ceccarelli@durham.ac.uk)
Biography
Paola Ceccarelli is Professor in Greek Cultural History. Her research interests range widely, from ancient dance and theatre (besides numerous articles, she is the author of "La danza pirrica nell’antichità greco-romana", Pisa-Roma 1998) to Greek historiography (Herodotus, but also some of the Greek fragmentary authors for the Brill New Jacoby project) to the history of classical scholarship (she has edited the correspondence between Welcker and two Neapolitan scholars). She is currently working on a monograph on the ideology of Greek epistolary writing; linked to this is the further project of a new edition, including translation and commentary, of the Seleukid Royal Correspondence.
She is keen to supervise graduate students, especially in the following areas: dance and theatrical performances, Greek historiography, and Hellenistic (more specifically Seleukid) history and epigraphy.
