30th Research Students' Conference on Probability and Statistics

(12 March 2007)

The Research Students' Conference is an annual event which aims to give postgraduate statisticians an appropriate forum to present their research. In 2007, from Tuesday 27th - Friday 30th March, the RSC will be hosted by the Department of Mathematical Sciences of Durham University.

This year, Durham University will also be hosting a Lecture Day in Statistics on the 30th of March to honour the contribtion of Allan Seheult to the Department over many years. This day will include 6 talks from invited speakers, namely Julian Besag, Stephan Morgenthaler, Peter Green, Chris Jennison, Peter Craig and Allan Seheult. All interested RSC delegates are welcome to attend this special event. Further details on the Lecture Day are available here.

The 4-day event is organised by postgraduates, for postgraduates, providing an excellent opportunity for students to make contact and discuss their work with others with similar interests. The RSC has become rather popular over the years, and now in its 30th year we are expecting over 150 delegates to attend.

For many students, it is their first experience of presenting a talk or a poster and delegates are also given the opportunity to chair a session. Students who attend the event for the first time often choose not to present their work, however they still benefit from attending the talks.
