Turnitin Issues using IE
It has been brought to our attention that some users might be experiencing problems uploading assignments to Turnitin using MS Internet Explorer on a non University computer.
In our discussions with Turnitin they have indicated that there is a problem using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser that gives an error message saying that there has been “an error in processing the paper”, however, despite this message the paper has been submitted and you are able to view the submission and obtain a Paper ID. A second issue might occur giving users a Turnitin login screen. Turnitin have advised users to use different browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or alternatively to apply the following security settings to Internet Explorer.
If you are using your own laptop/computer then to avoid these issues you need to add some “Trusted Site” settings. Please set the following sites as Trusted sites:
http://www.turnitin.com
https://www.turnitin.com
https://*.submit.ac.uk
http://cdn.turnitin.com
http://edgecastcdn.net
by opening Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites and add the above sites.
For Internet Explorer 7 Users Only:
The Turnitin engineers have further discovered that there is a conflict between IE7 and MicroSoft’s operating system which is affecting Turnitin. A hot fix has been released by MicroSoft in relation to this at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2628724
