Queen's Campus Library Computing Facilities

There is a large open access computer area in Queen's Campus Library which contains 69 networked computers as well as network wireless access. Available facilities include a scanner, a FORMIC questionnaire scanner, a CD-writer, a colour laser printer and an A3 monochrome printer. Room D222 contains 25 networked computers and is available on open access when not in use for teaching by the library or CIS. There is a wireless hotspot in Queen's Campus Library which enable users to access online electronic information resources alongside traditional books and journals. Details of this service can be found on the ITS web pages.

The University Library offers access to a limited range of online resources to members or users of the Library who are not otherwise full members of the University. A registration procedure needs to be followed on every visit to the Library during which you require to use online resources. Details of this service can be found in our guide to online access for non-University users. There are two computers available for this service at Queens' Campus Library and they are situated opposite the Library service point.

Laptop loan service


A wireless laptop loan service is available which enables users to work online within Queen's Campus Library. Fifteen laptops will be issued for a 4 hour 'short-loan' on a first come first served basis. The machines will run the IT Service's based classroom desktop to provide a consistent student desktop environment. This service will provide access to the Internet, Microsoft Office, printing facilities, and to the J: drive.

The laptops can be used throughout Queen's Campus Library wherever a wireless signal is present. This provision will enable users to access online electronic information resources alongside traditional books and journals to tailor a learning environment appropriate to their needs.

Sixteen wireless netbooks are also available for use in Queen's Campus Library on a first come first served basis. They are located opposite the Library Service point in a netbook safe.
