Reading List
A list of required reading for a particular module or course recommended by the course lecturer. If you are a lecturer and wish to submit a reading list to the library please consult our reading list pages.
Recall
When a book is required by someone while on loan to another user, the University Library asks you to return the book to the Library before its due date.
Ref Only
A Loan Type which refers to the Library materials that can only be consulted within the Library.
References
A list of full bibliographic details of works which are cited in the full-text. References are directly linked to the in-text citations and normally appear at the end of a chapter or in the footnote. For advice on referencing, please consult our referencing advice.
Reference collection
A selection of library materials used to begin research and to answer quick questions. These include dictionaries, encyclopaedias and bibliographies, etc. The material in the Reference Collection can only be used in the Library where the material is located and has a Ref prefix in the shelfmark.
Renew
To extend the borrowing period of a book or a bound journal. This can be done online, up to four times, by logging into the personal Library Record which is accessible from the Library Catalogue home page.
Reserve
To request a book that is on loan to another user to be brought back to the library and keep on reserve. Reservation requests can be made online through the Library Catalogue pages.
Returns Machine
A machine that is operated by the user to return books and other materials to the Library.
