Journal
Journals (also referred to as periodicals or serials) provide up-to-date coverage of developments within a particular subject area and usually include articles presenting original research, review articles and book reviews. Journal titles are published at regular intervals and the parts are generally referred to as “issues”, which are brought together to form “volumes”, often corresponding with a calendar year.

You’ll find printed journals on the shelves at all Library sites. Journals are increasingly being made available online and these are known as electronic journals or e-journals. The Library has access to over 17,000 e-journals, available 24/7 from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. If you are working off campus you may be asked for your Durham University username and password to verify that you have access to these resources. For advice on using journals please consult our Finding Information pages.
