Library Services for Distance Learners
Postal Loans Service available: Did you know that students registered on distance learning courses can ask for library books to be posted to their home address? Follow the link in the "Related Links" box on the right for more information.
This suite of pages will give you an over-view of the services offered by the library to students registered on distance learning courses. These pages assume that you may never set foot in the university library: if you live close enough to the library to use it then you might find that the web pages for part-time students may be useful to you. The pages on visiting the library have details about accessibility, opening hours and parking.
The pages on finding and accessing resources guide you through the resources available to you and provide information on borrowing books (through the postal loans service), managing your loans, as well as guiding you to subject specific information, current awareness tools, online tutorials and subject help.
The page on library services you can access from home shows at a glance the range of resources available to you through Durham University Library. Using other libraries gives details of access schemes which will enable you to borrow books from universities throughout the UK and gives links to national libraries which you might need to use before the end of your studies. Staying in touch outlines the ways that the Library will contact you and the section on further help lists the best people to contact if you should need help at any point.
Remember, the library staff are here to help.
