Why the Reading List Process has changed
With the library receiving well over 1,000 reading lists per year, the workload involved in processing those lists is huge. In order to make the process more efficient the Library worked with the Durham University Change Team:
The Change Team has been set up by UEC to help departments like the Library to make improvements to their work. This was one of our first projects and, as the Change Team has been set up and championed by UEC, they are taking a keen interest in our work. We were delighted to get involved with this project and have been extremely impressed at the effort the Library team have put into getting this process right so that they can deliver a better service and that the academic community can feel confident their students will have the resources they need in a timely manner. The new electronic elements will also make the process much easier for academics and will provide easy access to useful information. To fully realise these benefits, we need everyone involved to do their very best to help in the transition to the new process. If you would like to know more about how this process review was conducted, please do not hesitate contact the Change Team on x46804 or email Naomi Blayney at n.j.blayney@durham.ac.uk.
Given that 2012-13 sees substantial changes to the reading list submission process, we welcome feedback about how the process works and any improvements that could be made. Please contact us at library.resources@durham.ac.uk
