Palace Green Library entrance

Please use the links on the left to find out about opening hours for the Search Room and Palace Green Library. There is also additional information for visitors including access, contact details, location, accommodation and transport. Further links give information about the collections and using the collections with details of search room rules and procedures, and guidance on material handling. Enquiries, photocopying and reprographics, commissioned searches and palaeography teaching are covered under facilities and services. There is also a list available of publications including printed items and postcards.

Restricted access to collections 2012-2013

Palace Green reader services now at 5 The College

From 1 October 2012 the search room at 5 The College (in the Cathedral precinct) will provide access to the Archives and Special Collections material which has been moved out of Palace Green Library during building work on the Pace Building. This includes the Local History and History of the Book printed collections and also PG Ref books.
To use the Archives and Special Collections material please contact us beforehand on 0191 3342972 or pg.library@durham.ac.uk in order that we can confirm that the material will be available when you require it.

The exhibitions at Palace Green will remain open as advertised.
