Library Users' Committee
The Library Users' Committee meets once a term. It will report any issues raised to the Library Steering Group which may then discuss these issues further at its next meeting.
The LUC meeting dates (subject to amendment) for the 2012-2013 academic year are currently scheduled for:
- 7th November 2012
- 6th February 2013
- 15th May 2013
Membership
- The University Librarian or his Deputy
- The Dean or a Deputy or Associate Dean of each Faculty
- The Education and Welfare Officer of DSU
- The undergraduate and postgraduate student representatives on Library Committee
- One student from Queen's Campus
- One member of the Library staff to be elected by those Library staff who are not already ex officio members of the Committee
- One ex officio member of each Board of Studies in each faculty to serve for a period of three years
- Members of the Library staff and other members of the University whom the Librarian may decide, with the agreement of the Chairman, to invite, as appropriate to the business of the meeting.
- A representative of the Director of the IT Service.
Duties
- To report and comment to the Library Steering Group from the users' point of view on general matters relating to Library policy and the provision of library services in the University
- To consider the principles for determining the allocation of bookfunds as these affect the Faculty grouping and to make recommendations to the Library Steering Group
- To consider periodical subscriptions for titles of interest to the departments and subjects represented on Users Committee
- To consider and comment on any matter of substance relating to the University Library referred by the Library Steering Group Board of Studies or the Librarian
