3.9.1: E-learning and Distance Learning
1. Many of the modules offered within the University's programmes (at both undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels) involve e-learning. E-learning is incorporated within modules that involve face-to-face contact between University staff and students, and modules that are delivered entirely via distance learning.
2. The use of e-learning within taught modules is considered by the University through its usual processes for programme and module approval, monitoring and review. This consideration takes into account the precepts published in Section 1 of Chapter 3 of the UK Quality Code published by the QAA. This point of reference is also used when considering proposals for modules or programmes delivered by distance learning.
3. In developing proposals incorporating e-learning and distance learning, members of the University will want to consider their alignment with the precepts published by the QAA. In addition the University has identified a number of sources of information on good practice in the delivery of e-learning, and members of staff may wish to consult some or all of the following:
