Further guidance

3. Detailed guidance on specific concessions can be found in the appendices linked to in the table in paragraph 1. In addition the following guidance applies to admissions concessions:

a. A student who has failed his/her assessments in a programme of study at another university and wishes to transfer to a degree programme at Durham or a former student who has left the university and spent time away since failing his/her original degree will need to be admitted via a matriculation concession. All such students must apply through UCAS or the postgraduate online application form. These applications are treated in the usual way but with the requirement that a Readmission after withdrawal concession is sought. A Durham student only requires such a concession if he/she reapplies within the next 5 years but once that period has lapsed his/her failure shall not be taken into account and any application will be considered in the normal way.

b. In relation to the postgraduate concessions for Business School taught programmes, once approved, the department should issue a revised offer letter directly to the student. The Business School should update Banner with the details of the concessions (add a general comment to SPACMNT) and report details of all admissions concession approved to the Admissions office on a monthly basis. The approved concession form and supporting evidence should be retained by the Business School.
