Admissions Policy
At Durham University we welcome applications from people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, regardless of political or religious beliefs. We actively support diversity and equality. If you are a mature student we will welcome your application and carefully consider it on the basis of the experience you have gained, as well as the whole range of your formal qualifications. Your application will be judged primarily on the basis of evidence it gives of your enthusiasm and ability to study, and your motivation to benefit from the range of our academic opportunities.
What we look for in potential students
The main factor we look at is academic performance and potential; we assess students on their potential to achieve a high level of understanding in their chosen academic discipline based on their previous and forecast academic performance. We are interested in the breadth of your interests and in the contribution you can make to University life and the college community. In our selection process, your achievement in examinations, development of study skills and independence of thought will be considered, together with other evidence you present about your potential for further development during your proposed period of study.
