Biography

Annegret Engel obtained a degree in Business Law from the University of Applied Social Sciences Schmalkalden, Germany (2006). She has graduated with an LLM in International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University in 2008.

Since October 2008, she researches for a Ph.D. Her current research analyses the inter-pillar relations of the European Union after the introduction of the Treaty of Lisbon with a main focus on the anticipated changes in common foreign and security policy. In particular, her discussion includes issues such as legal basis litigation and competence overlaps. Annegret is supervised by Dr Robert Schütze and Dr Amandine Garde.

During her Ph.D., Annegret has spent five months as a trainee in the Copyright Unit of the European Commission in Brussels where she has assisted in the research and elaboration of the Green Paper on the online distribution of audiovisual works. She has further been a visiting student for two months at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence where she has carried out further research for her thesis under the supervision of Professor Marise Cremona.
