(28 February 2012)

From 23 - 25 February 2012, the Armenian Catholicosate in Antelias/Beirut held an international conference on the recognition of and reparations for the Armenian genocide of 1915. Professor Michael Bohlander delivered a contribution on the practice of international criminal tribunals in the field of reparations for international crimes, looking in particular at the recent decision of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) in the trial against one of the highest-ranking members of the Khmer Rouge, Kaing Guek Eav alias Duch, which set out the ambit and limitations to reparation and compensation to victims of mass atrocities.
