John Snow College

Undergraduate Life

John Snow has one of the liveliest, largest and most active community of students and staff of all the colleges in Durham University. We are best thought of as a community of scholars, in which the more senior members (including staff) support the more junior members in their personal and academic development. As a member of John Snow College you will be part of this community, whether you live in the College Residences or out in the surrounding area.

You don't have lectures or seminars in your College; rather the College is a focal point for social, cultural, academic and sporting activities which combine to form and enrich the University experience of all its members. If you want to show people what you can do in music, performance, art or sport, this is definitely the place for you. The College also provides pastoral and personal mentoring structures to support every student in his or her personal and academic development. John Snow College thus aims to provide the resources and encouragement for everyone of its members to enjoy a rich, fulfilling and successful University experience.

Meet Elizabeth...

"I love the college spirit; we wear gowns and in a modern college that means mixing traditions alongside creating new ones. I've been involved with netball and I was JCR Sports Officer. Your college is a home away from home. And being at Snow has been the best three years of my life." Elizabeth Glancy, Applied Psychology
