How to travel to John Snow College

On foot

There is easy access to the College and Campus from Stockton High Street via either the Millennium Footbridge or the new Infinity Bridge. Please see the Campus map.

By Bicycle

There are many safe cycle routes running alongside the River Tees that bring you directly into Queen's Campus. There is cycle parking at the Halls of Residence and outside of the Ebsworth Building.

 By Bus

Regular services run from Stockton and Middlesbrough to Queen’s Campus and the X1 services from Newcastle, Durham, Sedgefield and Middlesbrough stop outside the Holliday Building on University Boulevard and travel direct to Durham University Science Site.

 By Rail

GNER service runs from London, York and Edinburgh to Darlington, with a connection to Thornaby Railway Station. The Transpennine Express provides a direct approximately hourly service from Manchester Airport, Manchester, Leeds and York to Thornaby.

Once at Thornaby Station, climb the steps and turn right onto the footbridge. At the end of the footbridge turn left along Station Street. Follow Station Road around to the right along Chapel Street. At the roundabout at the end of Chapel Street, take the second exit from the left onto Sorbonne Close. John Snow College is on the right.

 By Air

Durham Tees Valley Airport is just 8 miles from Stockton.  Air travelers can take advantage of the Tees Valley Sky Express (737), which links to the airport with Darlington and its railway station.  The service is free to air travelers or costs £2 per single journey for non-air travelers.

Newcastle Airport is approximately 1 hour away by road.

 By Road

Queen's Campus, Stockton is linked by the A66 to the A1(M) and the A19.

From A19 North

  1. Join the A66, signposted Stockton/Darlington.
  2. Take the first slip road from A66, signposted Teesside Retail Park/Tees Barrage.
  3. Turn right at the traffic lights, over the bridge across the A66, following signs for the Barrage.
  4. Turn left at the roundabout onto Princeton Drive.
  5. Carry straight over the next roundabout to continue along Princeton Drive.
  6. At the next roundabout, take the first exit on the left along Station Street. Follow Station Road around to the right along Chapel Street. At the roundabout at the end of Chapel Street, take the second exit from the left onto Sorbonne Close. John Snow College is on the right.

From 19 South

Join the slip road for the A66 signpost Stockton/Darlington. Keep on the slip road and follow the signs for the Barrage as described above.
